Morning Devotional - The Call to Serve Others
Reflecting on Matthew 25:35-40: Service as an Expression of Faith
Scripture: "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me... Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." - Matthew 25:35-40
Reflection: As we greet the day, let’s ponder on the profound message in Matthew 25:35-40. In these verses, Jesus highlights the importance of serving others, presenting it as a direct service to Him. This passage calls us to see Christ in every person we meet and to serve them as we would serve the Lord Himself.
Serving others isn’t just an act of charity; it’s an integral part of our Christian walk. It’s in the simple acts of kindness – feeding the hungry, welcoming the stranger, clothing the needy – that we live out the love of Christ.
This morning, let’s ask ourselves: How can we serve those in need around us? How can we be Christ’s hands and feet in our community? Let these questions guide our actions and open our hearts to the opportunities to serve around us.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for reminding us of the importance of serving others. Help me to see You in everyone I meet and to serve them with the love and compassion You have shown me. Give me the courage to reach out to those in need and the wisdom to find ways to serve in my community. Amen.
